Who we are

Lumiere Studio is a multidisciplinary art and design firm founded by Lumiere Group, established in 1994, a major supplier of high-end lighting fittings in Lebanon and the Middle East. In our design practice, light is used to enhance the experience of a visual environment. Our work is wide-ranging and encompasses architecture, strategic branding and innovative design.

Our portfolio reflects a richly diverse range of output, from residential quarters to retail and hospitality. We handle not only indoor design, but outdoor landscapes and architectural projects as well.

We work in close collaboration with our architects, clients and designers and use our lighting designs to enrich the core principles of their design and vision.

Principles

We believe that lighting is the fourth dimension of architecture, meant to be integrated with and enhance other design disciplines. We work with knowledge of how lighting can affect social interactions, whether at work, home, school and play.

Our expertise in design technique and sensitivity toward functionality and the social effects of lighting equips us with the resources to find better solutions that are both environmentally sustainable and enhance the business.

Services

We offer a comprehensive lighting design service, from initial consultations, strategy and concept development, lighting calculations, energy impact analysis for Leed certification, all the way to construction, on-site support and final lighting set up.

Lighting strategy and concept

a. Assistance with preparation of lighting brief and budget.
b. Produce feasibility reports and conceptual lighting design studies.
c. Produce presentations to communicate design concept.
d. Assistance in ensuring lighting plan matches budget.

Strategy to development

a. Preparation of preliminary lighting layouts, lighting equipment schedule, preliminary control intent, logical control channel, schedule and lighting calculations.
b. Ensuring lighting plan is in accord with budget.

Production and technical layout

a. Preparation of final lighting layout including, lighting equipment specification and performance specification for lighting control system.
b. Assist with coordination of lighting installation.
c. Assistance with ensuring compliance with installation of the building regulations and local regulations.
d. Preparation of final logical channel schedule.
e. Provide comments on final coordinated construction drawings.

Tenders and construction

a. Produce final review of lighting installation on practical completion.
b. Provide comments for contractor/manufacturer drawings and details for compliance with design requirements.
c. Provide direction for focusing and programming of installed lighting.
d. Provide assistance to the design team to prepare schedules of defects related to items specified by lighting design.

Additional services

a. Provide detailed summary reports showing luminance levels other than those included by architect for general evaluation.
b. Provide design of development of custom-designed luminaries and negotiating competitive prices for products.
c. Provide retail and field inspections.
d. Provide reports about whole life and running costs.
e. Provide final lamp schedule for client’s building maintenance staff.
f. Provide as-built/installed drawings.
g. Provide computer-generated images, animated images and special renderings to communicate design.
h. Provide review of final building contract or tender documents.
i. Provide design, supervision, construction, testing and evaluation of models and mock-ups.
